Fifty one is the new awful

At golf yesterday I thought I was going to come out with an awful number, as I started 9 and 8 and then had an 11 later on. But it all came out to merely 51.

I was surprised, but I did par three holes - one par three for the money, yes! - and one of those was a hole I'd never parred before. I'm not sure I'd done better than double bogey on that one in fact.

So, when an awful round comes up to be what was my average only a couple of years ago, it a clear sign of upward progress.

Ok Evan, we respond to guilt. Heather and I have finally visited your blog, and notwithstanding my dislike for blogs (I've always enjoyed your 52-times emails, but I just have this irrational distaste for blogging--can't explain it) your site is very clean and appealing.

Your note about golf scores struck a chord--I just took up the game myself last year to play in a local league. I thought I had improved quite a bit since last year, but alas, no--the scores tell it all.

All the best from Philly!
